The executive board of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance (AALTCI) approved efforts to expand consumer education and outreach efforts focused on critical illness insurance.

"There are millions of American families impacted every day by critical illnesses such as cancer and heart disease who are financially devastated by these conditions," declared Jesse Slome, director of the national long-term care insurance association.  "I am so pleased that we will expand our efforts once again to focus on educating consumers about the many affordable planning options including critical illness insurance."

Approval was provided to increase consumer outreach and educational efforts under the auspices of the Association's sister organization, the American Association for Critical Illness Insurance.   "There is much to plan and much to do in the year ahead but rest assured we are going to make major inroads in terms of heightened awareness," Slome announced.  "Our goal is simple, start with education that will increase the number of consumers seeking information on this important coverage and ultimately buying policies."

Slome noted that years ago he was approached by several leading critical illness insurers and asked to create an awareness effort.  "We got off to a great start but when funding support ended, so did our ability to undertake efforts," Slome noted.  "Getting the board's approval is the first and most important step towards rebuilding the emphasis and I am charged up and ready to go."

The Association is seeking to undertake awareness via the organization's critical illness insurance website.  Plans to completely update the website are the first priority, Slome shared.  "We're going to make this the industry's prime portal for information."

The American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance advocates for the importance of long-term care planning and helps consumers connect with knowledgeable professionals who are independent advisors.   Consumers looking for local long-term care insurance cost comparisons should visit the Association's website at www.aaltci.org or can call the organization's national headquarters at 818-597-3227.

The American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance and the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance advocate for the importance of planning and support insurance professionals nationwide.  Jesse Slome, founder and executive director of the organizations, is a leading consumer advocate and author of numerous consumer and professional guides focused on retirement and insurance planning that have been published by governmental agencies and private organizations.
