Representatives of local Muslim leadership will hold a press conference at 4pm on November 21, 2008

at the The Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial, Educational and Cultural Center (The

Shabazz Center), in order to address statements attributed to Al-Qaeda, characterizing President-Elect

Barack Obama as a "house negro" and invoking the name of El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz- Malcolm X.

Members of the African American Imams' Unity Coalition will deliver statements, as well as the

Executive Director of The Shabazz Center, Ms. Dowoti Desir. Local Muslim leaders will include:

Imam Al-Hajj Talib 'Abdur-Rashid, The Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood Inc.

Charles Aziz Bilal, Chairman, Political Action Committee, Islamic Leadership

Council of NY

Imam Umar Abdul-Jalil, Masjid Sabur

Imam 'Abdur-Rashid will make the major statement. The Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood (MIB)

is the lineal descendant of the Muslim Mosque Inc. founded by El-Hajj Malik-Malcolm X after his

departure from the Nation of Islam in 1964. Two years after Shabazz's death in 1965, members of the

Muslim Mosque Inc. founded the MIB in 1967. Like The Shabazz Center, the Mosque is located in

Harlem.
