The LG|Tasty Cookie Club - just in time for the holiday baking season
The holidays are just around the corner, and appliance maker LG and BuzzFeed’s Tasty want to make seasonal baking easier with their new, co-branded
LG | Tasty Cookie Club. Cookie club members receive exclusive, step-by-step recipes and natural, organic, pre-measured baking ingredients, so they can create delicious cookies using their LG ProBake Convection ovens, the official oven of the Tasty kitchen. In addition to the recipes and ingredients, subscribers will get cooking tools and accessories such as cookie scoops, aprons, baking mats and spatulas with their baking subscription.
The Cookie Kits are delivered quarterly and will include seasonal recipes, including the following:
- Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice Cookie Sandwich Kit for fall
- Ultimate Gingerbread House Cookie Kit for winter
- WildBerry Unicorn Pinwheel Swirl Cookie Kit for spring
- Everything But the Oven Chocolate Chippy Kit for summer
Cookie kits are available for $32 each, when paying per kit, or $128 per year for quarterly kits. Kits are shipped around the 15th of the month in October and December 2019, and March and June 2020.
"We're always finding new ways to cater to our audience, and our data-driven insights show that ease of access is a big priority for Tasty users," said Jake Bronstein, Head of Partner Innovation at BuzzFeed, in the announcement. "By joining forces with LG to bring ingredients and supplies for baking both inventive and classic desserts right to their doorstep, we can fulfill Tasty's mission of making cooking fun and accessible for home chefs of all skill levels."
To kick things off, LG and BuzzFeed’s Tasty are launching custom videos featuring new recipes with restaurateur and Tasty's Executive Chef in Residence Marcus Samuelsson and Rie McClennny, a fan favorite Tasty Creator from BuzzFeed. Tasty cookies will also be available for purchase at the Madison Square Garden marquee through the end of the year.
"Tasty inspires its massive audience to get creative in the kitchen – and LG offers the right tools to cook and bake at home like a pro with America's most-awarded appliances," said David VanderWaal, senior vice president of marketing, LG Electronics USA. "LG aims to make life good for consumers and through this unique partnership we're introducing a new generation of consumers to the best way to bake the perfect cookie every time with LG ProBake Ovens."
Insider Take:
Cookies are among my favorite foods, so a cookie subscription sounds like a wonderful idea – until you get to the details. While BuzzFeed’s Tasty may have a growing audience, how many people own an LG ProBake convection oven to bake the cookies in? If they don’t have a convection oven, does the recipe provide alternate baking instructions for baking in a traditional oven? We love the concept – especially since it is a subscription – but the target market seems very narrow. We’d like to see this subscription service in action – and maybe taste some sample cookies – before we give these subscription cookie kits two thumbs up.
