It’s Only Been Ten Years, How Are You?
An interesting and disappointing recent phenomenon: I’ve had people who left my coaching communities long ago—they received what they needed and never felt a compunction to remain and contribute to others—suddenly show up again asking me for free help. They actually believe that paying a small sum a decade ago entitles then to lifetime assistance—which I would look upon with more sympathy if they had actually stayed around and tried to in turn help others.
It would be another story, as well, if they came to me with referrals some sort of help offered to me, instead of asking (and sometimes demanding) free help.
I’m sympathetic to people in dire straits, and we’re helping such people. I’m not sympathetic to people who feel they can take and not give, consume wealth and not create it, enjoy happiness without contributing to the happiness of others.
In other words, I’m weary of self-absorption.
