International Coach Federation Announces 2013 Chapter Award Winners
Chapters recognized for successful coaching-related marketing and community service campaigns.
Lexington, Kentucky, USA?Three International Coach Federation (ICF) Chapters have been recognized for their achievements with 2013 ICF Chapter Awards. The annual Chapter Awards recognize chapters who have successfully implemented coaching-related marketing and community activism initiatives in their local communities. Each year ICF Chapter Awards are presented in two categories: the I Care for Award and the Breaking Barriers Award.
ICF Global President and Master Certified Coach Dr. Damian Goldvarg and ICF Global Past President and Master Certified Coach Janet M. Harvey announced the winners in a September 24, 2013, video announcement.
?It is both humbling and exciting see how ICF Chapters use coaching to make a difference in their communities and in the world,? said ICF CEO/Executive Director Magdalena Mook. ?The activities of our award-winning Chapters help fulfill ICF's vision of coaching becoming an integral part of the society. We want to congratulate our winners knowing that their stories will no doubt inspire and influence coaches worldwide.?
Recipients of the I Care For Award have established a significant coaching presence in their communities by providing coaching for free to those who would not have access to it otherwise. The 2013 I Care For Award was presented to ICF Metro DC in recognition of its pro bono coaching initiative.
In an effort to increase awareness of professional coaching and its benefits, ICF Metro DC partnered with six local organizations to provide pro bono coaching to their staff or members. More than 50 ICF Metro DC members volunteered their time and talent to the initiative, providing more than 250 hours of coaching and planting the seeds for lasting partnerships with local nonprofits and associations.
The Breaking Barriers Award is presented to ICF Chapters that have demonstrated success in innovative occasions, extraordinary fundraising events, impactful media relations, creative strategic alliances or exceptional membership growth. The ICF presented 2013 Breaking Barriers Awards to ICF Kenya and ICF Raleigh in recognition of their organizational and promotional efforts surrounding International Coaching Week 2013.
In its first full year as an ICF Chapter, ICF Kenya organized and promoted an International Coaching Week 2013 (ICW) celebration that included professional development sessions for coaches, coaching demonstrations and panel discussions. ICF Kenya also leveraged the power of radio, Kenya?s most popular medium, by offering free, on-air coaching to people who called in to a popular morning radio show.
ICF Raleigh staged a massive marketing and publicity effort in advance of its ICW events, securing proclamations in recognition of ICW from Raleigh, N.C.?s mayor and city council, Durham County?s board of commissioners and the governor of North Carolina. The ICF Charter Chapter?s signature ICW event, a symposium titled ?Coaching: The Secret Strategy to Your Success,? introduced leaders from the nonprofit, corporate, education and public sectors to coaching via a panel discussion and live coaching opportunities for all attendees. ICF Raleigh also hosted several smaller ICW events throughout the region to promote the power of coaching and foster professional development.
