Integrative Health Takes Another Leap Beyond Original Conception

CIIS Certified Health Coaches and Integrative Health Studies Graduates Broaden Outreach and Provide Compassionate, Effective Lifestyle Change Support

(SAN FRANCISCO)  ---- The range of topics for exploration in integrative health and medicine has expanded beyond the original conception of the field as a blending of complementary healing  (massage, yoga, targeted supplements) with mainstream medicine. The following research proposals from the M.A. graduates of the Integrative Health Studies program at California Institute of Integral Studies reveals that the reach of integrative health encompasses everything from alternatives to lonely aging to imagery for explosive anger prevention in teens. 

  • From Loneliness to Love: Elderly Volunteerism with Animals
  • Food for Thought, Breaking the Habit: Mindfulness with Coaching to Reduce Binge Eating in Women
  • Imagining Calm: Transformative Imagery as Anger Prevention
  • Climate Change in the Classroom: Exploring the Effect of Reiki on Social-Emotional Learning in Kindergarten
  • Along the Deeper River: Exploring Women's Intuition During Pregnancy and Birth
  • Mushrooms, Community, and Mental Health: Psilocybin and Native-Inspired Integration for Women with Dysthymia
  • Finding Opportunity in Illness: A Meaning-Based Integrative Patient Empowerment Program
  • Circles of Support: Community Auricular Acupuncture for Chronic Low Back Pain in Pregnant Women
  • Re-Wilding the Body: Earthing for Stress Reduction in College Students
  • Self-Befriending: An Integrative Approach to Breaking Free from the Past
