Turning 65 this year in Indiana?  Experts at the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance recommend comparing prices for Medicare insurance.

According to data published today by the organization, rates can vary.  "Comparing prices is important and can result in some significant savings," shares Jesse Slome, director of the Association.  "A man turning 65 could pay as little as $108 monthly or as much as $236-per-month for basically identical Medigap coverage,"

"Insurers offering coverage to Indiana seniors set their own rates and they vary," Slome adds.  "The Association examined fees that get added to the monthly cost and they may also vary as will discounts for two-person households."  In Indiana, the household policy-pricing discount varies from zero to as high as 14 percent according to the AAMSI policy analysis.

The 2020 Medicare Supplement Price Index from AAMSI reports the highest as well as the lowest available insurance rates for Medigap Plan G.  "Plan G is the most popular choice among seniors turning 65," Slome explains.  "The survey is intended to educate more seniors turning 65 about the importance of comparing options.  You might be making a decision that you cannot easily change down the road."
