20,000 riders around the world were relying on him for 30 continuous minutes.

Alex Toussaint has fast become one of the most popular Peloton instructors, with a meteoric rise from mopping the floors of a spin studio to becoming a brilliant fitness inspiration with his direct instruction and endless energy.

On Friday morning, instructors started teaching their live classes from their own homes as the Peloton Live Studios were closed due to COVID-19.

You would never have guessed that the music had cut out for Alex unless you noticed him tap his earpiece, the energy was the same, the clear instruction continued. At one point he said, “I have no music, but that doesn’t matter we keep going.”

I thought the music must have come back on for him because he continued the class to the beat, not distracted, full of his usual energy.

At the end of the ride, he shared he didn’t have any music for most of the ride, but you would never have known.

He did his job, his audience was happy, and on writing this at 5 pm on Friday evening, a further 9,587 riders have taken his class on demand.

Here are some of my favorite Alex T Soundbites:

  • Self-validation is the best validation

  • Breathe in confidence, breathe out self-doubt

  • You woke up today – fix your face!

  • Less excuses more adjustments

Champions Adjust is a favorite quote or soundbite of Chief Marketing Officer and Board Member Julie Bernard.

How quickly you notice, react, and adjust during change will determine your own fate and those around you.

My three daughters age 9, 9, and 11 have continually been adjusting over the last six weeks of lockdown here in Los Angeles. I am hardly the best substitute teacher, tier-one helpdesk support, or best co-worker for my husband as we all adjust to life as five under one roof fighting for internet bandwidth. But we notice what has changed, decide how we can best react, and consciously decide how we are going to adjust.

How do you handle the unexpected?

Both Julie Bernard and the company Peloton are featured in my new book Rapid Growth, Done Right. Launching May 3 in the UK & Rest of World and May 26 US & Canada.

Wishing you and your loved ones are healthy and strong right now.

Do let me know if I can be of help.

Take care.

Dedicated to growing your business,

Val
