Hispanic Heritage Month

From September 15th to October 15th, Americans across the country will be celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month. This is a time to commemorate the "histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America."

The History of This Month

This celebratory month first started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week. In 1988, this heritage week was expanded to a full 30 days. We should all spend this period learning more about the culture and notable Hispanic figures, especially in American history. To learn more information, visit the National Hispanic Heritage Month website.
