The website LetterOfHardship.net has added even more hardship letter templates for a variety of difficult financial, academic, medical and other issues. They're each free for personal use.

"I've added nearly two dozen letters to the site, including several that are especially relevant during the coronavirus pandemic," said Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "The templates are best used as a jumping-off point, adjusting a letter's wording to suit a specific situation."

LetterOfHardship.net has more than 300 sample letters in all. The newest templates address pandemic-related hardships, college financial aid appeals, mental health, jury duty postponement, and other tough situations. Other new letters relate to: weather, transportation, identity theft, child care and work furlough.

Previous letters at LetterOfHardship.net cover mortgage and rental issues, including deferral and forbearance requests for business tenants.

The just-added academic letters include appeals for additional merit aid or scholarship amounts for college as well as student loan deferrals and financial aid adjustment requests and appeals.

Letters relating to withdrawals and loans from retirement funds are also among the new additions.

Everything at LetterOfHardship.net is free for personal use and downloads instantly in DOC (Microsoft Word) format. Then, users can type into the template, adjusting the wording for their situation. The templates are not a substitute for legal advice.

"These sample letters can help people find the right words in difficult situations," Savetz said. "LetterOfHardship.net also has articles with letter-writing tips."
