Happy International Pi Day! Last year, the Ad Council launched our
She Can STEM campaign, which empowers young girls to get involved in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Research shows that although young girls like STEM subjects, they aren’t always encouraged to pursue them further due to outdated stereotypes. In order to succeed in STEM fields, girls need to see female STEM role models that prove it’s possible.
Since the launch of the campaign, we have partnered with several female STEM creators who are great examples for young girls, and they’ve shown just how creative, unexpected, cool and inspiring STEM can be. Check out these nine female STEM creators below, featuring some of the creators that we’ve partnered with as well as women who are doing exciting work in the STEM fields.
1. Karina Garcia
Karina’s channel includes videos about DIYs, hauls, reviews and makeup tutorials. She is popularly known for her fun and unique slime videos and has even been credited with being
partially responsible for the booming pop culture slime trend. We partnered with Karina at the launch of our

2. Simone Giertz
Simone is a maker, inventor, robotics enthusiast and TV host. Chances are you’ve seen one of her random creations on The Colbert Show or GIF’d into your news feed. She has mastered the art of making “useless” machines, and she shares with her audience how she has found joy and freedom in learning to build machines that are meant to fail. 3. NancyPi
Nancy’s channel is all about math. As an MIT alumna, she breaks down all areas of algebra, trigonometry and calculus for her audience. Her videos explain complex topics with step-up-step instructions and can be very helpful to help students who may be having trouble in the classroom. Watch her informative and engaging videos

4. GEM Sisters
Real sisters
Giselle, Evangeline and Mercedes make family-friendly sketch comedy videos, funny skits, parody music videos, challenge videos and lifestyle videos. While their content features an array of fun and entertainment, they also love creating slime tutorials. We loved partnering with the GEM Sisters back in September on a video that showed their audience how to make slime for school, helping girls see STEM as fun and accessible for all ages. 5. Physics Girl aka Dianna Covern
Dianna Cowern, creator of
Physics Girl, creates content that serves as a resource for physics videos and other science materials. What initially started as a post-college personal project has now grown into a successful tool for teachers, entertainment for physics enthusiasts, and most importantly a way for Dianna to show her passion for physics while advocating for women in STEM.
6. iJustine
Justine Ezarik, otherwise known as
iJustine is a YouTube personality, host, actress and model. While her work spans across multiple industries, we particularly love her for her videos featuring tech reviews, video game reviews and tutorials. Back in 2016, she also partnered with
Google Made With Code to encourage young girls to get involved with coding.
7. Sara Dietschy
Sara’s
channel features everything tech, lifestyle, entrepreneurship, travel and more. Last month we were fortunate enough to partner with her on her podcast,
That Creative Life, where she interviewed STEM professional
Billie Whitehouse on her unique experience with wearable tech. You can listen to the podcast

8. The Merrell Twins (Veronica and Vanessa Merrell)
Veronica and Vanessa are actresses, musicians and creators who post challenges, pranks, experiments, DIYs and lifestyle content on their
YouTube channel. They recently launched a STEM series called “Project Upgrade,” where they take part in amusing science projects and encourage girls to get involved in STEM fields. Check out the

9. Karlie Kloss
In honor of International Pi Day, we are proud to launch our new
She Can STEM partnership today with Karlie Kloss’ nonprofit organization,
Kode With Klossy! We want to show girls how exercising their minds using STEM is the first step to changing the world. As a part of this partnership, supermodel, entrepreneur and philanthropist
