GOD BLESS AMERICA - WRITTEN BY IRVING BERLIN IN 1918 AND REVISED BY HIM IN 1938. LISTEN AND WATCH THIS GREAT VIDEO (5 MINUTES LONG) WITH KATE SMITH SINGING AND EVEN A BRIEF CAMEO APPEARANCE BY A YOUNG RONALD REAGAN WHO ALMOST APPEARS AT THAT TIME DESTINED FOR GREATNESS! THERE IS NO QUESTION THAT GOD'S HAND WAS AT WORK HERE.
This Is The Army (1943) -- (Movie Clip) God Bless America!
Kate Smith's titanic delivery of Irving Berlin's "God Bless America," recreating her 1938 introduction of the song on her radio show, with a patriotic montage featuring Ronald Reagan and many more in Warner Bros.' Technicolor fundraiser for Army Emergency Relief, This Is The Army, 1943.
Kate Smith was our national treasure for many, many years. No matter what befell this country Kate Smith shone through in song, and during our darkest days of war and anything that troubled this nation, she was with us. This recording was made in 1938 as the country saw war on the horizon. I was born in 1948, just a child when I heard her sing it years later, but I'll never forget her beautiful voice.
HAPPY AND SAFE FOURTH OF JULY!
