J is for Join an Organization. I’ve heard many folks ask:”Why should I join a group just to get a speaking gig?” Well, if you are smart about it, you can parlay a membership in one chapter to dozens of possibly other speaking gigs. When you join one chapter of, for instance, eWomen, or the Holistic Chamber of Commerce, or any number of professional industry associations, it entitles you to speak at all the others. One annual membership and you are now part of the club and the resistance wall comes down! Get yourself booked all across the nation, the state or your region for what in the long run is a nominal fee.
