Don Imus Dead at 79. There are not may details available but radio legend Don Imus passed away early this morning (12/27) at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in College Station, Texas. The Hollywood Reporter says Imus had been hospitalized on Christmas Eve. No cause of death has been given. Imus’ radio career spanned more than 50 years. He was the morning drive personality on WNBC, New York during the 1970s and 1980s. He would also host the morning show on WFAN, New York and was syndicated across the U.S. during the 1990s and into the 2000s. He exited WFAN in 2007 in the aftermath of the infamous “nappy-headed hos” incident. He landed at WABC where he worked mornings until the company ushered him out as a cost-saving move during WABC owner Cumulus Media’s bankruptcy process. He left radio in March of 2018.
