New Free Writing Prompts

Free printable writing prompts are the subject of a new website, www.FreeWritingPrompts.net, from creator of TeachersPrintables.net, PrintableFlashCards.net and other resources for school, home and business.

"I created FreeWritingPrompts.net as a complement to other sites in the FreePrintable.net family," said Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "The writing prompts are designed for elementary school through college, and teachers can easily download prompts and customize them to suit their classroom needs."

The prompts are appropriate for creative writing, how-to essays, persuasive writing and so on, and are organized by subject and grade level. These descriptive, expository, narrative and other prompts can be downloaded as formatted PDF or DOC files (there are several themed prompts on each page) or simply cut and pasted from the site. They're all free.

"These expertly written prompts will inspire thoughtful writings by students on topics ranging from holidays to comparative fiction," Savetz said.

The prompts at FreeWritingPrompts.net give just enough direction to get a student started on an assignment. Each provides a scene, thought or concept and includes follow-up questions as well. Here's an example for elementary students: "Think of a time when you had to be brave. Write a narrative essay with a beginning, middle, and end that presents your experience. What was it that made you scared and what did you do to overcome your fear?" A college-level expository writing prompt is: "Read Thomas Aquinas' five proofs on the existence of God. What are his conclusions and how does he arrive at them? In what ways are these logical, scientific proofs? What are the holes in the arguments?"

TeachersPrintables.net has nearly 250 classroom printables to download and print, while PrintablePaper.net offers all kinds of paper and PrintableFlashCards.net has free flashcards as well as a flashcard maker.

There are more than 80 sites in the FreePrintable.net family of free printables sites created by Savetz Publishing, Inc., a company devoted to creating useful and informative web sites of interest to consumers and small businesses.
