First Responders Prepare for Ice Rescue Emergencies

Lifesaving Resources is preparing to conduct their 21st season of ICE RESCUE training programs for First Responders.  The 2018 season will include several Awareness and Technician level courses designed to provide First Responders with the knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively respond to incidents on and through the ice.  These courses meet/exceed NFPA 1670 & NFPA 1006 standards for technical rescue, and certification is valid for 5 years from the course completion date.  These comprehensive, fast-paced, and intensive one-day training programs will be conducted in the Portland, Maine area, and include 3.5-hours of classroom training, and 5-hours of practical training conducted on and through the ice.

Lifesaving Resources will also be conducting their 16th annual INTERNATIONAL ICE RESCUE TRAIN-THE-TRAINER ACADEMY, February 15 - 18, 2018, in Portland, Maine.  This comprehensive 4-day training program is designed to train First Responders as Ice Rescue Instructors.  Upon successful completion of the Academy, graduates are authorized to conduct Ice Rescue Awareness, Operations, and Technician level courses on behalf of their own departments.  

Lifesaving Resources has trained and authorized over 350 instructors from throughout the U.S. and Canada, and has trained and certified thousands of First Responders from throughout the U.S., as well as internationally, including from Canada, Norway, Greece, Ireland, Scotland, and others.  

In addition to their internationally-recognized Ice Rescue training programs, the company also conducts WATER RESCUE and SWIFTWATER RESCUE training programs for First Responders, as well as AQUATICS SAFETY and Water Rescue training programs for Lifeguard and Aquatic Recreation personnel.  The company will be conducting their annual INTERNATIONAL WATER RESCUE TRAIN-THE-TRAINER ACADEMY, May 17 - 20, in Portland, Maine.  

Lifesaving Resources Water and Ice Rescue training programs are conducted under the direction and supervision of Gerry Dworkin, a professional Aquatics Safety and Water Rescue Consultant for Lifesaving Resources.  Gerry is also a Firefighter/EMT, and regularly consults as a Forensics Expert in drowning and aquatic injury litigation, as well as a subject matter expert for numerous television news shows.
