Feel like the only one who’s missing out on true love? If you’re sitting alone while star-crossed love birds are getting all the attention on the Kiss Cam, you may be getting tired of singlehood.
Living in a couple’s world is great…if you’re part of a couple. But single without a partner?
It gets old and lonely pretty quickly.
Coming home to an empty house.
Cooking for one.
Hanging with Netflix instead of cozying up to your S.O. in a movie theater on date night.
And, God forbid, buying another bridesmaid dress or renting another tux to play a supporting role in a friend’s wedding.
It just gets old!
But just because you’re missing out on true love now doesn’t mean it’s not in your future.
It also doesn’t mean you can’t be living your best life right here, right now.
A big part of finding true love is living authentically — being true to who you are, no matter what the circumstances.
Here are my strategies for living your best life and showing up as your best self:
Find a way to be happy with who you are.
Focus on your fine qualities. Consider all your accomplishments. What are the positives of being single?
I’m sure your married friends envy some of the things you get to do as a single person.
After all, falling in love doesn’t guarantee happiness. Neither does being married.
Appreciate what you have.
Perhaps it’s a nice home, a good job, wonderful friends and family.Perhaps you have the freedom and finances to pursue your interests, travel, and take advantage of opportunities that come your way.
Instead of begrudging what you see as “missing out on true love,” consider another possibility. Perhaps all you have and can do right now is preparing you for the love of a lifetime.
Sometimes happiness comes down to perspective…and gratitude for what you have and where you are in this moment.
Study how to be a better partner.
Learn life-changing relationship skills from experts, videos, podcasts, or a class. You can join a group dedicated to working on improving relationship skills or hire a coach to help you improve your skills even faster.
Then, when you meet that right person, you’ll feel more prepared to move forward with the relationship.
Instead of convincing yourself that you’re missing out on true love, focus on what you can do proactively to meet your life partner.
“Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” We’ve all heard it. And it’s a motto I live by.Join a new social group. Ask your friends to introduce you to someone new. Refine your online dating strategies.
There are so many great ways to meet people today.
Complaining that there are no worthwhile dates or marriage-minded people out there is an old (and unproductive) story you’re telling yourself.
Have faith that your time will come soon.
When you’re positive and happy with yourself, you’ll attract positive and happy people.Dating is a process of learning about yourself and opening yourself up to possibilities.
If you follow my recommendations, you’ll see that you don’t have to be missing out on true love forever. Consider this as a temporary situation.
Just know that a special person is looking for you, too.
The question is, “Who is the you that you want Mr./Ms. Right to seek?”
When I was in my 40s, I was searching for lasting love and was frustrated that I wasn’t meeting men who wanted the same kind of relationship. So I hired a relationship coach to support me through this process.
You don’t have to go it alone either!
If you’re frustrated with the process of finding true love, you’re in the right place.
Are you open to learning new strategies?
Are you willing to be proactive about your love life?
