Attract the Right Job or Clientele:

Beginning a career is a long journey into the unknown. We can’t be certain about how our thought will be accepted or our actions rewarded. The only certainty is the power we have over our values and priorities, and the way in which we see the world. Our choices have a boomerang effect in that what we express, may come back to haunt or applaud us. Smart leaders know to establish consistency so that there is no room for doubt as to what they stand for and give credence to what others may assume.

The biggest problem that stands in the way for advancement arises for those who think differently from most everyone else. Career advancement is less likely for these folks because they do not take the safe route. Instead, they experiment, explore, tweak and try again. Most companies don’t have the patience for this behavior; conformity is the name of their game. But the exploratory type of behavior does mark the personality of entrepreneurs.

My Story

Dependent upon the situation, some see me as an introvert and others see me as an extrovert. The introvert side of me asks many questions upfront to gain the client perspective. And ideas are presented through additional questions as opposed to telling-selling.

The first step always is to figure out whose company I am in and if there is room for alternative thinking in the conversation. Understanding of the other person holds true for any encounter and is my unique sales strategy approach. When the other person is agreeable to new ideas, is when a floodgate of ideas will pour forth for them to choose solutions of preference. Free-flowing creativity provides the ideal situations for me to savor in-between the more traditional meetings.

Today the biggest difference from where I began is that I am no longer timid about expressing ‘off the wall’ ideas as it is now my usual practice. The better news is my willingness to put myself ‘out there’ attracts wider audiences plus has the attention of the media. For me, the everyday routine holds little interest. When I am free to explore that’s what excites me and gives reason to continue each day.

To my delight,

Media Shower and Kite Desk teamed up to include me in their Expert Interview Series:
