It happened AGAIN!  I opened my browser to write a blog entry and the webpage is displaying the latest news headline that catches my attention. Without much thought, I click on one story.  A few minutes later (and a few stories later) I am struggling to remember why I opened the browser in the first place. This time I did something different.

I just read a book on personal productivity that suggests that your home page be a blank page, or at least a non-distracting page. (For example, when a blank page is not an option, I use my own webpage ChangeMastersAcademy.com.)

I have only been using this technique for a few days and I have had zero distractions! One simple change has already made a meaningful difference in reducing time-waste. I hope it helps you too.

If you need help with the browser settings, see below …

CHROME  – three dots in upper right corner

Settings > On Startup > Open a specific page … and add your dull page URL.

FIREFOX – “Hamburger” Menu in upper right corner Options >

EDGE  – “Horizontal dots” Menu in upper right corner > Settings >

(Set the “Open new tabs with” to “A blank page” and then the “Open Microsoft Edge with” to  “Open Microsoft Edge with”

IE (Internet Explorer) – “Gear” setting menu in upper right corner > Internet Options > General Tab > inter your “dull” website > APPLY to save.
