In 2007, we at StopAfib.org started Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Month during September to raise awareness of afib and the risk of stroke. We then worked with medical societies to get it designated as National Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Month by the US Senate in 2009. It has since taken on a life of its own.

We need your help to raise awareness of afib, so people get diagnosed and treated before they have a stroke. You’ll find facts to share with others in our press release here:

Over Two Million Americans with Undiagnosed Atrial Fibrillation May Be Walking Time Bombs

While the numbers are different outside the US, the problem is still the same. The European Society of Cardiology says that 43.6 million individuals had atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter worldwide in 2016, so this is a global problem. Many of them are undiagnosed. If you live outside the US, you can still share that many people do not know that they have it, and may be at risk for a stroke. Please help us solve this problem by getting people diagnosed and treated.

Thank you for helping spread the word.
