DON'T MAIL IT IN: In order to protect and preserve our vote we must do it in person

One of America's most valued and precious rights is the right to vote. Every election cycle we get to choose who we want to represent us and run our country. Many Americans have fought and died to protect and preserve that right and none of them just mailed it in. Americans can do a lot of different things by mail or on line but voting should not be one of them.

Many Americans feel as though voting by mail is a new, safe and efficient way to have their voices heard. Unfortunately in many cases it is not. In fact, according to The Heritage Foundation mail in voting is one of the most common types of voter fraud there is along with being one of the hardest to prosecute. In just the last few election cycles there have been 1,290 confirmed cases of voter fraud in the country which resulted in 1,113 convictions. Many of these cases involved absentee or mailed in ballots.

Older voters who vote more often and typically in person on Election day are now hesitant to do so because of the Coronavirus. Many older voters now feel apprehensive to go to the polls because they fear health risks. This attitude, coupled with voter intimidation tactics from left leaning activist groups are exactly what the Democrats are counting on in order to defeat President Trump in 2020.

In every generation from the Revolutionary War, to the Civil War, to World War 1, to World War 2, to the Korean War, to Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, Americans have fought and died to protect our freedoms. Those Americans who want to preserve freedom and liberty for themselves, for their children, and their grandchildren will need to show up in person on Election day in large numbers to vote.

Whether Americans want to believe this or not; we are in a war. We are in a war to save our freedoms from those who want to remove them. We are in a war for our voice against those who want to silence it. We are in a war to protect the safety of our communities who want to defund it. We are at war to protect our America from those forces within us who want to destroy it.

If older voters can go to their local grocery store, or bank, or department store they can go vote in person on Election day. They are not storming the beaches at Normandy or raising the flag on Iwo Jima. They are going to vote. Something many Americans fought and died to give them the right to do. Ronald Reagan once famously said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. It can not be passed down to our children through the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same." And that effort can not be mailed in.
