Creating positive cultural change can seem like a long, complicated and arduous process.

But it doesn’t have to be, especially when you have an entrepreneurial leader in place who makes creating positive cultural change a top priority. (Sometimes vision and strategy have to wait.)

The process can be energizing, productive, and even fun when you engage a wide range of stakeholders in the right way. People build critical relationships in the process and generate exciting new possibilities for the future.

Gayle Lantz speaks with Dr. James Hill, Chair of the Department of Nutrition Sciences in the School of Health Professions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He is also Director of UAB’s Nutrition Obesity Research Center.

Dr. Hill is one of the world’s foremost experts on obesity having spent over 40 years conducting research to understand how obesity develops, health consequences of obesity, and strategies to prevent and treat obesity.

Gayle began working with Dr. Hill shortly after he took on his new leadership role in late 2018.

Dr. Hill shares his experience and insights to help other leaders who want to drive change and be a positive influence in the organizations they serve.

This episode covers:

  • Why creating a positive culture first is critical to the overall success of an organization
  • Entrepreneurial leadership in action with emphasis on teamwork
  • The importance of possibility thinking versus traditional problem-solving
  • The impact of saying “yes” to ideas to drive change more quickly
  • Ways to sustain momentum to achieve positive results
