Today’s the REALLY BIG day …followed with a full week of birthday celebrations and gifts to you. In reality, we started stated Saturday afternoon with a movie and then dinner with eight friends. Yesterday, my girls arrived for lunch and a great pair of new slippers and let’s go out to eat gift cards plus promised Girls Day to see the movie Beauty and the Beast with the other girls in the family next month. Today is lunch with a close friend. What will tomorrow bring?
When I think back, I’ve had six major careers:
- as a Mom of three kids;
- as a Personal Money Expert being a stock broker and financial planner;
- as a Platform Speaker, sharing information in several countries—from keynoting a marketing conference in Finland to delivering workshops in Buenos Aires and presenting many times in every state of the United States over 40 years;
- as a Workplace Expert in resolving conflict and dealing with toxic employees and co-workers;
- as an Author, with 35 books and counting; and
- as a Book Publishing Expert.
Each has taken me on journeys that I never imagined possible; meeting amazing individuals; visiting places that only books told me about and implanting rich experiences and memories in my journal of life. While in the middle of each, I loved that career the best. Recently, my grandson asked me when I was going to retire … my response was, “Never—I love what I’m doing.”
Over dinner this past week, one of my clients who has become a wonderful friend said, “When are you going to write your story, Judith? You could call it 50 Shades of Purple.”
“Maybe someday … right now, I have others’ shades to lift and I love it as their books are published.”
Oh yes, I love my purples—the vibrancy of the colors to my eye and surroundings; the reminders that sometimes purple has both royalty and pain affiliated with it; and that it just makes me feel good.
So, here’s to all of you … your stories, your journeys, your sharing have all become part of Career #6, the current love of my working life: Book Publishing Expert.
Today is my official “birth” birthday. My life as it has unfolded has many birthdays as windows opened and doors closed. Just as yours has.
