Colorado Author Wins

Eight National Book Awards

DENVER, CO., December 14, 2017 — Judith Briles of Aurora, Colo., who has written and published more than 30 books, has won eight national book awards for her latest, How to Avoid 101 Book Publishing Blunders, Bloopers and Boo-Boos (Mile High Press).

Briles and the book were honored with the "best" in the Writing/Publishing categories from the USA Book News Awards, Independent Press Awards, Indie Excellence Book Awards, International Book Awards, and the Global eBook Awards. How to Avoid 101 Book Publishing Blunders, Bloopers and Boo-Boos garnered the first "Dan Poynter NonFiction Legacy Award" and when it was initially launched, it earned #1 bestseller on Amazon in Writing and Publishing.

"Every author, every book, needs to know what the possible traps are in publishing and how to avoid them; and get out of them when they occur," says Briles, who is also a publishing expert and master Book Shepherd®.

The Importance of Avoiding Blunders and Bloopers in Book Publishing

"Self and independent publishing has exploded as the #1 choice to today's author. Learning what works; what doesn't work; who not to work with; even what companies to avoid is essential for authors. All make mistakes—most don't talk about them. When they happen, it takes time and sometimes significant moneys to unravel, not to mention the emotional drain.

How to Avoid 101 Book Publishing Blunders, Bloopers and Boo-Boos is a guidebook that is created in a short and snappy, sometimes sassy, format. It covers the basics with a 'what a concept is about or must know' and ends with a key Tip.

"Think of the 101 ways as nuggets—none over a few pages; each written in a no-nonsense style yet flavored with a bit of visual whimsy. The book has been created with confidence, clarity, competence and commitment," said Briles, who is known globally as The Book Shepherd® and also the Chief Visionary Officer and Founder of AuthorU.org, a non-profit membership organization for authors based in Colorado who want to be seriously successful.
