The trick of the best integrated smart home is to make many different technology systems appear as one. There may be televisions and audio systems of all different brands and models, but they are integrated and controlled from a single point.

That’s the beauty of this functional Florida smart home: there may be a lot going on behind the scenes, but a few touch panels pull it all together to make it simple and easy to use.

The 3,800 square-foot house has eight different audio/video zones that are programmed in conjunction with the security and lighting systems to create custom settings for the homeowner. The “Entertainment Scene,” for example, turns on five zones of music, lowers the air conditioning, dims multiple lights and turns on the pool water features.

This project was a finalist in the Custom Home of the Year Between $50,000 and$150,000 category for the 2016 Mark of Excellence System Integrators Awards Program.

The Mark of Excellence program recognizes the best in custom integration and installed technology each year. Learn more about applying for the program.
