Carl Davis, author of Bipolar Bare – My Life's Journey with Mental Ilness, A Memoir, will be speaking at Vroman's Bookstore in Pasadena, California at 1:00 pm on Saturday May 14 as part of Pasadena first city-wide event to promote mental health awareness. The first Mental Health Day Pasadena celebration will feature a mini-film festival at the Laemmie Playhouse 7 Theatre and presentations by authors in the courtyard outside Vromans starting at 11:00 am and lasting until 5:00 pm. Carl Davis, along with authors Terri Cheney, Andy Behrman, Dr. Dora Calott Wang, M.D., and Dr. Robert R. Liberman, M.D., will talking about their books and signing copies. The event is sponsored by the Pasadena Mental Health Advisory Committee (PMHAC), a social service provider started by Officer Victor Cass of  the  Pasadena Police Department, who also started the highly regarded Homeless Outreach-Psychiatric Evaluation (HOPE) Team, the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI)- San Gabriel Valley chapter, a non-profit organization which serves more than 5,000 Pasadena area individuals and families dealing with mental illness,  and Vromen's Bookstore, Pasadena's renowned independent bookstore. The event is free and open to all.
