On Memorial Day, 2014, President Obama was joined for breakfast at the White House by representatives of several survivor groups. Among them were mothers, fathers, wives, brothers and sisters of veterans who are still missing-in-action or who died in war or as a result of their injuries later on. Ruth W Crocker, whose husband Capt. David R. Crocker, Jr., died in Vietnam, attended as a board member of Gold Star Wives of America. Her memoir, Those Who Remain: Remembrance and Reunion After War, was presented to the President and Vice-President.
