In the last weeks, protests have erupted in the U.S. and around the world to resist or ridicule Trump's Presidency and his many lies and disruptive executive orders.   As described in an insightful book: The New Middle Ages (Nortia Press) by sociologist Gini Graham Scott, Ph.D, these conditions today have parallels to what happened in medieval times and led to a series of peasant revolts that ultimately prepared the way for the Renaissance.  Scott suggests this is what is happening today and will eventually lead to a positive new future with a changed social and political order.

As Scott points out in The New Middle Ages, because the gap between the richest and poorest citizens has been growing, a class of impoverished and propertyless families continues to expand. This is the declining middle class and the growing 99%.  At the same time, there are other growing divides between different ethnic, religious, and social groups that have fueled much of the anger that led to Trump's rise to power and is now fueling the protest against him.

Much like the peasantry of Medieval Europe, this population bears the ever-increasing economic and social burden of our society.  As the rich grow even richer with laws to protect them and reduce their taxes, the low-income group grows poorer and is suffering from a loss of jobs.  In response, a growing number of angry citizens have been looking for someone to blame, leading to growing hostility to immigrants, Muslims, African-Americans, and other groups.

Through meticulous research, sociologist Gini Graham Scott paints a stark portrait of our growing inequality and division, drawing surprisingly accurate parallels to the Middle Ages.  In The New Middle Ages, we are warned that our present course is ripe for social and political upheaval – as we are now experiencing.

In addition, Scott has written a series of other books on Trump over the past year, as he rose to prominence during the Republican primaries.  These include 2016 Election Fairy Tales, in which Trump is featured in various modern riffs on traditional fairy tales, such as "Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Trump" and "The Boy Who Cried Trump."  Another is 2016 Monsters, Myths, and Mayhem, which compares Trump to a series of monsters in mythology, such as the Minotaur, Medusa, and Hydra.  Still other books, written with a cartoonist, compare Trump to nuts, such as the pecan, peanut, and cashew, in Trump Is Nuts!; to angry male animals fighting over females, territory, and power in Trump Is an Anima; and to now extinct creatures, such as the Trumposaurus, Dodo Trump, and Homo Trumpien, in Trump Is Extinct…or May Be Soon!.  A final book in the series, Trumpty Dumpty, was originally written as a series of columns for The Huffington Post. It considers how Trump is like a fighting animal and whether Trump is really nuts and suffering from signs of mental illness or might even have early stage Alzheimer's given his impulsiveness, difficulty in reading, rambling speaking style, and a dozen other traits listed by the Alzheimer's Association.

All of the books are available on Amazon, and most are on Kindle or Audible.  They are also featured on the website www.trumpisnuts.net, also known as www.trumpisanut.com and www.whoistrumpreally.com.

Gini Graham Scott, PhD (California) has published over 50 books and is a writer for many publications, including The Huffington Post.  She has been a guest on hundreds of radio and TV shows, including Oprah, Good Morning America, and CNN. She is also an independent film writer and executive producer with six feature films, TV series, and a documentary.  One feature film in distribution  deals with the theme of inequality: Suicide Party #Save Dave.  She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, and has four M.A.s from Cal State University, East Bay in Anthropology, Popular Culture and Lifestyes, and other disciplines.
