Tonight a Red Thread will be held in Sherman Oaks between 5-9 pm, it will cover many interests: as a memorial screening, a celebration of a new learning center's opening and an engaging topic exercise on community, safety, health and education held to raise underwriting funds for KidsFirst of So Cal's move to The Legends Gym this January 8th.
With a three-point focus, Marcia La Cour-Little will MC the first annual Red Thread Boxing Day Event for New Education Options and Kids First So Cal, its sponsored childcare and academic tutoring program , whose ground breaking move is at the center of our celebration tonight.
Here's the talking points for the event:
Point one: Place-based Learning…you've got to come out and see the place and participate!

There will be a post film question and answer period. RSVP on Brown Bag Tickets to coordinate your seating and bring your checkbook and your project for the year.
The room will ring with Irish. American and locally performed music St. Stephens or Boxing Day and the 2018 GLOBE Annual Conference STEM lesson plans we will start in January preparing for Killarney work this summer. We will offer art for sale and to support and cover variable costs that could have had the program tumbling down and instead is increasing its student load and efficacy.
Point two: Unity A short memorial will honor the loss of life, the collapse and rebirth of BAM in Iran. and will symbolize Kwanzaa's first night (Unity/Umoji), Boxing Day aka St. Stephens Day (come and hear the Irish Music at our event) , the reason we participate in the Big Shake out. We want to remember the protagonists of the BAM documentary and honor the redirection towards kindness, understanding, compassion, generosity, ingenuity, and innovation that came out of this earthshaking disaster.
Point three: Agency

St. Stephen's Day for Ireland:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Stephen's_Day
"Wren-Boys or Mummers…In Irish, it is called Lá Fhéile Stiofáin or Lá an Dreoilín, meaning the Wren Day. When used in this context, "wren" is often pronounced "ran".[4] This name alludes to several legends, including those found in Irish mythology, linking episodes in the life of Jesus to the wren. People dress up in old clothes, wear straw hats and travel from door to door with fake wrens (previously real wrens were killed) and they dance, sing and play music." "In most of Ulster in the north of Ireland, the day is usually known as Boxing Day, especially in Northern Ireland and County Donegal (chiefly East Donegal and Inishowen)."
