Blah, Blah, Blah
As I look back at the Democratic and Republican primaries, 2016 and this past year, I’m bewildered by the reality that people can get to the top of their party’s attention and be such horrible debaters and speakers. They range from absolutely boring to submerged in platitudes, from lack of facts to personal attacks.
The irony of our system in the US is that the behaviors required to successfully run for office and be elected to office are not those required to be a successful, effective leader in office. That’s why we’re so often disappointed, and why the best and the brightest don’t want to enter that arena.
That’s why our system has saved us when we’ve produced so relatively few great leaders.
