Prop comics are entertainers who use props; anyone from stand-up comedians to magicians, hypnotists and the like can be considered a prop comic if they include humor in their act along with something visual. There are good and bad things about being a prop comic.

In her podcast this week, comedian and keynote speaker Jan McInnis talks about some of the prop comics she's worked with, and some of the good and bad things about using props.

"I never wanted to use props, because I didn't want to have the chance that they wouldn't work. If you can handle that, then go ahead and use props and you'll get great laughs," quips McInnis.

Her podcast is titled Comedian Stories: Tales From the Road in Under 5 Minutes. She starts out with a live comedy clip from her clean comedy show, then tells a short story, and ends with a take-away tip of what she learned. Her podcast is produced every Thursday.
