Banish Burnout Toolkit Book Harnesses Stress Management Tools

to Prevent Burnout at Work and at Home

(San Francisco, CA) Coronavirus, financial insecurity, huge shifts in where we work and how our kids go to school…In these difficult times, you may not be able to stop external stress from happening, but you can change the way you react internally and how you respond, says Janice Litvin, author of the new book Banish Burnout Toolkit. Litvin created the toolkit to help people prevent burnout at work, and at home, by learning to better manage their stress.

Many Americans are experiencing more extreme stress than ever, and kinds of stress they may not have experienced before, says Litvin, a national workplace wellness speaker and the founder of the San Francisco Bay Area Wellness Association. According to Gallup, 66% of American workers are heading towards burnout, which the World Health Organization has declared an occupational syndrome caused by "chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed."

In the Banish Burnout Toolkit, Litvin gives readers important insights and practical ways to manage stressful events, from brief stressors to chronic situations like too much work over long periods—before these stressors                                        turn into burnout. The book is based on established principles of cognitive behavior therapy and growing understanding of workplace wellness, as well as Litvin's 20 years of professional work in human resources, and her personal experience developing healthier reactions and responses to stress.

Banish Burnout Toolkit's focus on specific problems gives readers action-oriented tools for recognizing and uncovering their stress reactions, understanding where these reactions come from, and learning how to re-script their responses and make them much healthier for the long term.

One example from the book is Tool #1 - STOP AND AUDIT. STOP refers to Stop - Take a Breath – Observe – Proceed. This teaches readers to catch themselves in the act, so to speak, of overreacting so they can maintain calm. Then the Audit step refers to the Stress Audit, which helps the reader to diagnose the stressor (what happened) and their reaction. Awareness is the first step to any behavior change. My clients and audiences love this Tool because it is simple and easy to remember.

Here is what wellbeing expert Jim Purcell, Former CEO, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island and Founder of Returns on Wellbeing Institute, had to say about Litvin's book. "Janice Litvin takes an ageless truth (pause before reacting) and weaves it into a timely message for surviving and growing during these stressful times. The Banish Burnout Toolkit is user friendly and practical. I recommend it most highly."
