October's National Disability Employment Awareness Month

Award Winning TV Producer/Host, Rose Lee Archer teams up with the Archer Disability Foundation during October's National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

As a national disability advocate and mother of a son with Autism, Rose Lee recognizes the issues facing families whose children with disabilities aging out of high school with no hope of employment in their community.  In the past decade the Rose Lee Archer Show has produced episodes each year that focus on employment resources to address the obstacles of students and job seekers with disabilities desiring employment in their community.  Teaming up with Archer Disability Foundation, Rose Lee continues to champion employment opportunities and grow mentoring relationships with business partners who open their doors to America?s most underutilized labor pool, persons with disabilities.

Archer Disability Foundation coordinates mentoring events with Publix, CVS/CareMark, WalMart/Sams Club, AmeriGroup, Florida Division of Recreation & Parks, and the VA Medical Center, West Palm Beach, to host annual hands-on job shadowing events to foster employment opportunities for students and job seekers with disabilities.

Disability Statistics reveal:

3.9% of individuals receiving disability benefits are working

75% of individuals with developmental disabilities want jobs, those working earn average of $162.50 weekly, which is poverty level.

The Archer Disability Foundation continues to grow its efforts as a Florida mentoring leader expanding its 2012 Disability Mentoring Month programs from October to December in Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties.

The Rose Lee Archer Show teams up with Archer Disability Foundation to expand its message of promoting inclusion in the workplace throughout the nation. Today, workers with disabilities face a competitive job market and dooming subminimum wage for workers with disabilities.  Those who are employed must accept a job with no advancement in the future.
