Always Be Your Author Best … Really?

Think about failure. Think about shifts. Think about change. And rethink about success … what is it rooted from?

Can you? Will you?

If you are believing that everything you do … you create … you write … you publish … must be the best of the best, get ready for a doozy of a letdown.

The Being the BEST trap is a trap—a big one. One that is riddled with snares, disappointments, and surprises.

Think back.

When have you had a major shift in your thinking?
In your writing?
In what you published?

What was behind it? Was it when everything was off the charts awesome? Or something else? Could it been seeded when all was not well? Maybe a bombshell that landed in your life that was totally unexpected?

Your life experiences sets your walk. What are they? What obstacles did you encounter. What did you overcome to get through them? How did you do it?

Your author success has change woven through it. Get your pen in the water. What flows around your words? Around you? How about others? Every time I’ve hit the change wall, I’ve changed.

Did I resist at times? Sure. Did I sometimes want things to just be as they were. Oh yes. Did what I wrote about and how I wrote change after the incident. Definitely. Did I learn to love the direction I landed in. Absolutely.

Choice … each of us has the choice of what response is when change bubbles up. Step away. Think back. What choices did you make when an unexpected or unwelcome change landed at your feet?

Most likely, you didn’t feel you were at, or the circumstances were anything close to the best scenario. Yet, out of it did something that was deeper; something that opened up other opportunities develop?

For me, I have a lot on my plate this summer. I usually do. Will it be my best summer yet? Heck no—I’ve hit a boatload of obstacles, some that made me truly angry. Yet, it’s a good summer that has promise going forward. As I ran into each hiccup, I had to make a choice. Just as you do.

And you perfectionists. Let it be … Get ready for the NEXT. It could be the most amazing ride you take. Maybe the best yet.
