A Fun and Easy November Marketing Campaign

Yesterday I attended yet another Zoom funeral service for a much-loved man. Leonard left an impressive legacy. Friends described themselves as adopted members of Leonard’s family. He was kind. He expressed a true curiosity about what was happening in the lives of others. He was quick-witted, intelligent and joy-filled.

I had to wonder: how many people shared these thoughts with Leonard when he was alive?

If you have been part of this community for any amount of time, you will know that I have a favorite marketing activity in November: Launch a Thanks Giving campaign.

Each day, compose one to five hand-written notes letting people in your professional circles know why you are grateful they are a part of your life.  

  • Thank your clients for their trust in you. Mention specific qualities you admire in them. 
  • Thank your prospects for bringing their questions to you.  Comment about your respect for their proactivity.
  • Thank your power partners for the opportunity to collaborate in mutually beneficial ways.
  • Thank the people who introduced you to doctors over the past year.  Let them know how much you appreciate the chance to serve the doctors who serve the community.
  • Thank your mentors for their insights and guidance.
  • Thank people who have offered you their platforms to speak or distribute your articles to reach more doctors.

If you want to take this to the next level, thank people who have impacted your personal life. 
  • Thank your partner.  Give them specific examples of things they did that made your life better. 
  • Thank your children.  Let them know what they have taught you. 
  • Thank your parents.  You would not be here without them!
  • Thank your friends.  Tell them about the moments with them you will never forget.
  • Thank your doctors who help you optimize your health. 
  • Thank the people who push your buttons. That inspires you to grow. (You can just give a silent thanks!)

?As you go about your days, look at the individuals who cross your path and imagine, “How would my life be different if they did not show up today?” 
  • What if your garbage man did not show up this week?
  • What if there were no firefighters in your community?
Approach these people and say, “Thank you for doing what you do.  Here’s how you make my life better.” 
Don’t wait until someone dies to say something nice. Life is short, so let people know how and why they make a difference today!
