A Day without women....is really about envisioning a caring society worldwide and universal human rights

Got Equity? – A Day without Women reminds us where there is work to do.

Women are ½ of our population. They work long and hard hours, but they are marching to be heard on vital issues and rights.  One can look at the demographics, the issues, and the economic impact to “the weaker sex” a delay in pay, medical care access, the right to dissent, the right to marry, the right to stay in the country, the right to not be discriminated against, the right to constitutional protections and the courts can make.

Women are worried about access to preventative care, birth control, women's health issues like stress and heart attack or stroke along with $15.00 an hour, getting a child to school, child care, good education, and stability for themselves, their parents, their husbands, homes and children.

With more women working, they do not feel represented fairly in the matter of respect, job options, green cards, cost of living, access to capital, access to their representatives, or their primary care doctors.  It seems to be getting worse or the issues themselves seem on track to be stymied or rolled back. What about seniors, girls, immigrants, and minorities?  Women are speaking out. Leadership, hard work, and communities of focus are making progress and since yesterday the new U.S. healthcare proposal was not welcomed as a solution, but a greater problem.  What is clearer by the number of protests...sections of our population feel left out.  People march to be heard as part of a democracy.  Will the leadership in Washington respond?

The rush to pass any bill without vetting that has more consequences and costs than discussed continues the sense that "no one is listening" to "we. the people", but to a democracy that money and influence has greatly impacted.

However great nonprofits, working women, girls, teachers, and men came out in red yesterday to protest, state the conditions they face, and move the U.S. towards another policy agenda.  We have the potential for better policies, kinder and more expansive decision-making, and funding for jobs, health care subsidies, realistic and well-researched health care insurance that covers all Americans and does not discriminate, burden or put populations at risk.  "I am woman" hear me rise seems back in vogue. The rest is her-story.

About: Reading well equates to recognition. In life or at work,  broad social participation requires skill in language arts and thinking ability. Today fluency translates into better life options. The demand for student achievement is essential to earning. Vital decision making is a driver of our economy.

Music educator,VAPA teaching artist, and the Director of New Education Options, Inc. a California public benefit charity, Bo works or volunteers to advocate for learners and educators. Teamed with William Elliott in Greater LA and the Inland Empire, they use writing and music as a catalyst for student school success through Stem and STEAM.

A CAC AIS instructor, Globe Elementary artist, and learning integration coach, she applies ESL, English Language Arts and Reading pedagogy to risk taking and creativity helping at-risk students to "learn how they learn".  Their initiative "The Water Buddy Initiative" uses songwriting to bring cognitive learning theories into rigorous and relevant application in the classroom or as transformational learning through technology after-school enrichment program.  In 2005, they became 'No Child Left Behind Supplemental Service Title I Providers' for At-Risk Learners. In 2013-14, we continued to work on our reader to link the LA River to classrooms and learning. In 2015,  NEO,Inc. is building a community of educators and advocates to fund new jobs training Musical Linguistics arts education teachers, and providing information to parents and schools on programs that build vocabulary and conservation.  Using national core standards to build reading comprehension through Science (STEM) skills, Bo uses music to link gains in reading, linguistics, memory and word play.
