Ah...the holiday season! Our thoughts turn to celebration with family, the anticipation (or dread!) of snow, cheesy holiday movies and counting our blessings. It’s also the time of year which many of us set aside for charitable giving. Giving from the heart is truly noble and as President Theodore Roosevelt once said, "This country will not be a good place for any of us to live in unless we make it a good place for all of us to live in." How especially true this is with gun violence prevention.
We thank all our supporters for working with Brady to make America safe not only from mass shootings but from the gun violence so many communities experience daily. Your support also helps our work to ensure that guns are safely stored in the home to prevent unintentional tragedies and so many other programs. And we thank you!
Now, imagine if you could do more with your gift? Well, here are 5 ways you can increase your impact and save even more lives.
- Have a FaceBook or CrowdRise fundraiser instead of exchanging gifts. In one week alone 7 Brady supporters raised almost $10,000 with Facebook fundraisers. And those are just the ones we knew about!
- See if your company will match your gift. Many companies will now match the gifts of retirees!
- Craft to "Fundraise"! Brady donor Ariadne Remoudakis recently raised funds for Brady at her company’s holiday craft show. (And it was matched by her company for even more impact!)
- Clearing out before or after the holidays? Selling items on Craig’s List, Ebay. Carousell, and LetGo to name a few, is easy. Instead of constantly moving things you don’t use from one closet to the other, you can add to your annual Brady gift.

6. With the stock market dipping, you might give stock and deduct the loss from your tax return. (Definitely contact your accountant or broker for assistance with this one.)
