There’s nothing better than springtime in D.C., especially during cherry blossom season! We compiled a list of key dates to make sure you know where to celebrate the 113th anniversary of Japan’s gift to our nation’s capital. Friday, March 14? 

Pink Tie Party?
7 to 11 p.m., Union Station? 

Don your best pink and/or floral attire for this annual 21-plus event, featuring cocktails and food from local restaurants and live music.?

Friday, March 21? 

Blossom Tea Party?
Noon to 3 p.m., Walter E. Washington Convention Center Ballroom? 

At this second annual affair presented by Events DC, guests are encouraged to learn about the history of the District from area grandmothers and grandfathers.?

Saturday, March 22? 

Opening Ceremony?
5 to 6:30 p.m., Warner Theatre, 513 13th St. NW? 

Co-presented with the Japan Foundation, this ceremony is the official kickoff of the 2025 National Cherry Blossom Festival, with performances by American and Japanese artists.

Saturday, March 29 (rain date: Sunday, March 30)? 

Blossom Kite Festival?
10 a.m. to 4 p.m., grounds of the Washington Monument?? 

Thousands of kites will take to the National Mall for this beloved all-ages tradition. The event also features the Sakura Taiko Fest, a lineup of Taiko drummers from around the U.S. performing at the Sylvan Theater.?

Saturday, April 5? 

Petalpalooza?
1 to 9 p.m., Capitol Riverfront? 

The National Cherry Blossom Festival’s daylong extravaganza includes an interactive display of art, live music and a fireworks display over the Anacostia River at 8:30 p.m.?

Sunday, April 12? 

National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade?
10 a.m. to noon, Constitution Avenue from 7th to 17th Streets NW? 

The festivities conclude with a parade presented by Events DC. Guests include Asher HaVon of “The Voice,” funk band Cameo, Grammy-nominated singer Kathy Sledge and even Mickey and Minnie Mouse.?
