Fiesta DC (Sept. 24-25),is the annual Latino Festival in Washington D.C. featuring a 2-day street festival on Pennsylvania Ave. and a “Parade of Nations” on Constitution Ave. with traditional clothing, dance, music and food from a variety of Latin American countries.
D.C.’s Latino population has been increasing steadily since the 1980s. More immigrants from Central and South America, along with the Caribbean, have settled in the area. now comprising over 11% of the populatio, over 80,000 strong. Fiesta DC traditionally coincides with Hispanic Heritage Month. This year marked the 50th anniversary of this celebration.
