Chevron Trademark Application

In a tweet earlier today, metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis revealed that energy corporation CHEVRON has filed a new Metaverse trademark application for its name & logo.  The application was filed on March 2, 2022, and signal plans by the energy giant to offer:

  • Branded NFTs + crypto-collectibles
  • Virtual gas and fuels
  • Virtual convenience store products
  • Virtual renewable energy products

"Chevron clearly sees the potential of the Metaverse and is preparing its trademark for the coming economy of virtual goods and services," Mr. Kondoudis says.

Mr. Kondoudis adds that "this trademark filing follows the trend by other major corporations like Walmart, Victoria's Secret, and McDonald's to begin preparations to participate in the Metaverse."

"Perhaps most interesting about the application is that it potentially signals the start of a new trend of Metaverse trademark filings from the energy sector," Mr. Kondoudis opined.

"We expect most major brands to continue this trend and to file similar trademark applications in the next 12 months," Mr. Kondoudis concluded.
