Perry Ellis is bringing two of its iconic brands to the Metaverse.
In a tweet earlier today, trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis revealed that Perry Ellis has filed two new trademark applications for PERRY ELLIS and PERRY ELLIS AMERICA for "virtual goods" such as footwear, clothing, headwear, eyewear, bags, sports bags, and sports equipment.
"Perry Ellis clearly sees the potential of the Metaverse and is preparing its trademarks for use in virtual environments and the coming economy of virtual goods," Mr. Kondoudis says.
Mr. Kondoudis adds that these trademark filings "indicate that Perry Ellis, like most major apparel brands, clearly intends to participate in the Metaverse."
The filing trademark applications for such virtual clothing is not unusual.
Hugo Boss, J. Crew, Banana Republic, and Victoria's Secret have all recently filed similar applications for their trademarks.
