Marc Bernier Looses Three Week Battle Against COVID-19. Radio talk show host Marc Bernier, 61, a 30-year veteran of Southern Stone Communications’ news/talk outlet WNDB, Daytona Beach, FL, died last night (8/28) after a three-week battle with COVID-19. Bernier, a conservative with a reputation for being fair and open to different points of view on his program, was on record as telling his audience that he personally opposed vaccines and was not going to get inoculated. Bernier is the second high-profile non-vaccinated radio talk show host to succumb to the coronavirus within the past week after the tragic loss of WWTN-FM, Nashville’s Phil Valentine last Saturday afternoon (8/21). TALKERS publisher Michael Harrison issued the following statement: “Aside from his obvious success and longevity as a broadcasting figure in Daytona Beach, Mark Bernier was one of the most popular and respected radio talk show hosts among his colleagues in radio, politics and publishing across the country. In addition to his even-handed daily shows, Marc’s legendary series of live audience ‘town hall’ style interviews with authors set an industry standard. This is another terrible loss for talk radio. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family, friends, colleagues and loyal listeners.” TALKERS will present more detailed information about this story tomorrow (8/30).
