Rob O'Dell is a reporter for the Arizona Daily Star who specializes in public records investigations. He is an expert in government spending and government waste, having done investigations into waste and mismanagement of $200 million by Tucson's downtown redevelopment agency called Rio Nuevo. His reporting resulted in changes in state law and sanctions to be placed on the Tucson for its mismanagement.
His reporting won Arizona's top prize for political and government reporting in 2008 from the Arizona Press Club, and he was named one of three finalists for Journalist of the Year in Arizona by the Press Club as well.
He was a 2009 finalist for the prestigious Gerald Loeb awards, which honor the nations top business journalism. He was named Arizona Journalist of the Year by the Arizona Newspapers Association and the Associated Press in 2009. He is the author of the upcoming book on government waste called Other People's Money.
