Redwood City, CA
Monday, February 09, 2009

Women in Consulting (WIC), a collaborative community of professional consultants and small business owners in the San Francisco Bay Area, today announced WIC president Linda Popky will present a pro-bono seminar in support of the American Enterprise class project at Homestead High School. The nonprofit marketing seminar, Promoting Your Non-Profit: How Marketing Can Help You Succeed in Today's Economy, will be held in conjunction with KeyPoint Credit Union from 6 – 8:30 pm on February 25th at KeyPoint's Santa Clara, CA headquarters.

Popky's presentation will focus on how nonprofits can apply simple, cost-effective marketing and branding techniques to build and grow a nonprofit organization in the midst of our turbulent and uncertain economic environment. Founder and president of L2M Associates, Inc., a strategic marketing company, Popky has worked with a wide range of organizations from startups and small businesses to Fortune 500 companies, including Sun Microsystems, Cisco Systems, NetApp, Autodesk, Applied Materials, Tech Data, CompeteNet, Triple Ring Technologies, and NovaRay Systems, as well as many nonprofit organizations and associations. Author of the recently published handbook, Marketing Your Career: Positioning, Packaging and Promoting Yourself for Success, she is also program advisor for San Francisco State University's Integrated Marketing Program and on the advisory board for UC Santa Cruz Extension's Marketing Management Program.

"Promoting nonprofit organizations is never easy," said Popky, "But today's tough economic environment makes it much more challenging to capture attention and raise funds. Our goal is to provide new marketing ideas and perspectives that can be easily implemented by these organizations"

The seminar will be held at the KeyPoint Community Center located at 2805 Bowers Avenue, Santa Clara, CA 95051. Admission is free. For additional information, please visit KeyPoint's website.

The American Enterprise Program

For the past three years, California's Homestead FBLA American Enterprise Chapter has focused on teaching within the local community, particularly at Cupertino Middle School, where Tomorrow's Business Leaders of America has been successfully established. Expanding its mission, the organization now focuses on teaching marketing and other success skills to local nonprofit organizations. In addition to teaching finance, management, public speaking, and other skills to the next generation of leaders, American Enterprise plans on capturing accumulated knowledge and best practices into an informational booklet as a resource to help nonprofits prosper.
