ENTERTAINMENT VENUE CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAM

SOUTHEASTERN, Pa. – Across the country, nightclub and bar violence is on the rise.

In the past three months alone, authorities have investigated dozens of murders tied to nightclub violence in communities from Maine to Mississippi, California to Colorado.

SERAPH Inc., a security consulting firm based in southeastern Pennsylvania, has developed a solution to the mounting problem.

The Entertainment Venue Crime Prevention Program is designed to help municipalities identify the causes of nightclub and bar violence and train club owners in security management.

"For the past 8 years, our company has provided risk-management training to numerous national entertainment companies, most notably the House of Blues" SERAPH CEO Dale Yeager said. "After receiving calls from various city council members throughout the country, we decided to design a municipal-based program to assist them in solving this problem"

The three-phase program includes an assessment on crime in the community, training for entertainment-venue management and a trainer program for continuing education.

As part of the program, nightclub and bar management is taught standardized threat assessment, security management techniques and teaming skills to assist police departments in controlling crime at entertainment venues.

"The outcomes from the program are improved crowd control, prevention of aggression and enhanced cooperation with police" Yeager said.
