275 5th Street San Francisco, Calif. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Politicians Miss the Point: We Are All a Mixed Salad Bowl "Living in America today is like being in a mixed salad bowl," says multi-cultural expert Jinsoo Terry. "We are Americans first, but we can mutually agree to disagree. Let's respect each other and move on" Terry, who conducts business seminars on America's multi-cultural workforce, makes her headquarters in San Francisco and shares her cultural experiences working in this California city. "San Francisco is a great example of a multi-cultural city," she says. "It still has a Chinatown, Japantown and clusters of small communities for Koreans, Italians, Latinos, African Americans and many other ethnic communities. It is not perfect but is a work in progress" The city by the bay is rich with cultural events, such as Chinese New Year Day Parade, Cinco de Mayo Day, ethnic dance festivals - along with hundreds of restaurants with distinct cuisines. "This gives us an opportunity to learn and understand other cultural backgrounds," Terry says. "So, it is not unusual for us to go to different restaurants and get dim sum and chicken feet one day, the next day have chicken tostada and burritos, and the next day shrimp vin da lo, chana dal and samosa" One thing Terry has learned living in her adopted country is something she says she is most proud of: Everyone she knows and meets treats her like an American first. Then, people ask her where she came from because her features are Asian. They are curious and want to know more about her culture. Her friends come from much different backgrounds or cultures, and she enjoys working together, planning together, and dreaming together. Terry has discovered that many people have the same needs: ambition, how to succeed, to be treated well and to be accepted. "Today, we have the media blasting the latest cultural issues in the newspapers, television and the Internet," Terry says. "Political candidates are swamped with talking about cultural issues rather than addressing the key needs of our nation. We should be working together for the good of the country and the people" "Let's get back to the basics and educate each other to understand the cultural experiences of everyone we meet," she says. "This will satisfy our curiosity and help us understand each other" "Americans are the leaders in multi-cultural issues, while the countries in Europe and Asia are just beginning to face their cultural challenges and how to solve them," Terry says. "There are many challenges in the global market, but we know we can make the world a better place" "Let's face it," Jinsoo says. "In America, we are a mixed salad bowl, not a melting pot. Let's learn how to respect each other regardless of our ethnicity and live in harmony. That will be the first step toward removing cultural barriers because we are a delicious mixed salad bowl and always will be" # Jinsoo Terry
