The simple FaxZero.com fax delivery form
Even in this era of instant messaging and electronic mail, fax machines remain a staple of business communications. FaxZero.com, a web site launched this month, provides the ability to send free faxes to anywhere in the United States (including Puerto Rico) and Canada.
By filling out a simple online form, FaxZero.com users can fax almost any Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, or text file from their computer. Neither a fax modem nor an account with an Internet fax service is necessary. After the fax has been delivered, the site sends an e-mail to confirm delivery to the sender. Free faxes are limited to three pages, with a maximum of two free faxes sent per person each day. The free service is supported by advertising: a small ad appears on the cover page of free faxes. A "premium fax" option, which costs $1.79, allows users to send ad-free faxes of up to 10 pages, with no two-fax-per-day maximum. In the site's first two weeks, FaxZero.com delivered more than 2,300 faxes to fax machines across the United States and Canada. Users have used it for everything from submitting resumes to potential employers to pre-ordering lunch at their local deli. FaxZero.com was created by Kevin Savetz. Mr. Savetz has been providing information about Internet faxing since 1994, when he wrote the first version of the FAQ How Can I Send a Fax From the Internet? which remains a popular resource. Mr. Savetz also created FaxPrices.com, an unbiased Internet fax price comparison tool; and FreeFaxCoverSheets.net, which offers more than 100 downloadable fax cover sheets.
