New Online Research University Offers Free Tuition for a Select Student Body

The world's first totally online research university, diUlus Institute & University (dIU), announced today that it would swing open its virtual doors and begin admitting full scholarship students effective June 1, 2006. Eligibility for admissions is reserved for those potential students from United Nations identified Third World countries. Admission is also reserved for others who are currently helping or have helped assist developing countries within the last five years, either in economic development and/or democratization. All students will possess full tuition scholarships.

Limited exclusively to 150 students, "the scholarships" according to dIU trustee Chair and CEO of Global Academy Online, Inc., Fred DiUlus, "will enable third world learners the freedom to complete their undergraduate, graduate or certificate programs unencumbered by education costs. The hope", he went on to say "is that graduates will use their newly acquired knowledge to build and contribute to their own country's nation building" Students according to the Registrar's office have one year from the award of the scholarship to begin classes.

Global Academy Online, Inc, the architect of diUlus Institute & University, is a Washington DC provider of online curriculum and instruction to colleges and universities as well as a designer of complete higher education eLearning solutions. DiUlus notes "dIU was created originally as an online showcase, an incubator university for Academy clients exclusively. "However", he states, "we found this effort pushing us to also address issues that others avoided or ignored altogether. The university provides us a window to examine and research, on behalf of our clients, a whole list of global issues from satisfactory and acceptable international accreditation to demands on faculty and their proper credentialing to effectively teach and mentor students online"

diUlus Institute and University sees their faculty and students forming a collegial mix that will test new online technologies, strategies, methodologies and pedagogy that can be copied or emulated by Global Academy Online, Inc. clients and others. The University carries the ancestral name of DiUlus' grandfather Alfonse di Iuliis, (diUlus), an entrepreneur who stepped ashore at Ellis Island, New York in the 1880's. Alfonse described education as one that involved "L'illuninozione della lampada di conoscenza' or 'Lighting the Lamp of Knowledge'" Originally DiUlus says," we envisioned the tag line for the university's students. Now, we realize it was a stepping stone to lighting the lamp for the entire eLearning industry"
