Reducing The Epidemic of Dog Bites, Dog Attacks and Dog Aggression in America

You needn't look far to find a headline in the newspapers, on television or on the internet about dog bites, dog aggression or dog attacks.  Ami Moore a leading expert on dog bites and dog attacks says, "Aggressive dogs are on everyone's mind, but we focus on the dog who is an innocent  animal. Yes, dog bites are a problem-but it's not about the dog, stupid."

On Sunday, after the August meeting of the Scottish Terrier Club , Ami Moore, leading Chicago Dog Aggression Expert, author of "Alphatude Attitude Your Dog Wants You to Lead",  delivered a short talk, "Dog Aggression-It's Not About the Dog Stupid"  in Downers Grove.

Ami Moore exposed some common myths about aggressive dogs. The first myth is that the breed of the dog makes a difference; the second myth is that the sex of the dog makes a difference; and the third myth is that an intact animal is more aggressive. According to Ami Moore, the real story is quite different using examples from  a new study on the causes of dog aggression the one true reason for the increase of dog bites and dog attacks is revealed; the dog owner is the lone predictor of an increase in dog aggression.

During the seminar, "Dog Aggression: It's not the dog stupid", Ami Moore introduces her dog training philosophy of Alphatude and Losertude. Her philosophy encourages the dog owner to move past the obstacles of delusion, prejudice and ignorance and to take control of the aggressive behavior of their dog.

Generally most aggressive dogs have bitten at least three times before the owner attempts to seek professional intervention.  Until the dog owner embraces their part in the aggressive actions of their dog, rehabilitation of the dog is impossible.

Ami explains how she use several "shocking" statements or questions, much like the personal coach Byron Katie, to assist the dog owner in becoming accountable for their actions that support the dog's aggressive behavior. The statements and questions are:
  1. You don't have a problem dog-you have a dog with a people problem?
  2. Did you know that dogs need leadership more than love?
  3. How does the dog's aggression work for you and your family?
  4. How do you or your family support the dog's aggressive activity?

Ami Moore then details her Three Step Program For Peace which include the rules, routines and responsibilities that encourage "The Alphatude Attitude" for the dog owner. Ami's basic bottom-line philosophy is that people are all alpha and dog's are all zeros, a concept outline in great detail in her book, "The Alphatude Attitude" which is available on Amazon and Barnes &Noble.

Ami Moore, a member of the  National Institute of Canine Experts, extolled the benefits of joining a national organization that is dedicated to supporting dog breeders, dog owners, dog trainers and dog medical experts all across America from the negative actions of the radical animal rights organizations such as PETA and HSUS.   For more information on the National Institute of Canine Experts please go to their website  www.nicenow.org.
