Public Relations Expert Gives A-Rod High Marks
South Orange, NJ
Tuesday, February 10, 2009
Public relations expert, Alan Caruba, drawing on nearly fifty years experience, is quoted in today's edition of the Kansas City Star giving Alex Rodriquez high marks for his apology for having used a performance enhancing drug from 2001 to 2003. "I give him a B-plus or an A" said Caruba.
Commenting on the story that is drawing nationwide attention, Caruba said, "I give the story a shelf life of perhaps a week before more important issues overtake it and it becomes just one more among the many revelations that some top athletes have used these drugs" "The culture of drug use to improve one's performance was apparently quite prevalent in baseball and earlier revelations have taken the bite out of this latest news," said Caruba. He said some blame has to be shared by club owners who may have looked the other way and to the authorities responsible for overseeing the conduct of the game. "The fact that Alex was clearly contrite and embarrassed will be accepted by his fans and the public. People make mistakes and, in this case, he was under considerable pressure to perform well. For that matter, he still is. I accept his apology and look forward to see him knocking homeruns into the bleachers" Caruba, who resides in South Orange, NJ, continues to advise and assist a variety of clients with their public relations programs and projects. "I have no plans to retire," said the 71-year-old, "because I am still having too much fun" The Caruba Organization maintains an Internet site at www.caruba.com. Alan Caruba
